Choice Lesson: Vocabulary Acquisition
This lesson is an introduction into the unit, and it provides the students with a chance to learn and understand the meaning of the mathematical terms used in the unit. At the beginning of the lesson, the students will give their best guess at the spelling and meaning of ten vocabulary words that I will say aloud. They will then participate in activities that will help strengthen their understanding of the words, and at the end of class the students will take a post-test to measure their gain in comprehension. The goal of the post-test is to understand the meaning and know the spelling of at least eight out of ten vocabulary words at the end of class.
Direct Instruction: Using Equations to Solve Problems
During this lesson, I will give a lecture about equations and their uses in problem-solving. There are several examples in the lectures for the students to practice the technique, and there are multiple resources given to the students in the independent practice section of the lesson plan.
Here are some graphic organizers to supplement the lesson.

Concept Attainment: Inequalities with One Variable
This concept attainment style lesson plan helps the students understand the meaning of an inequality and the symbols that represent the relationships of inequalities. As the lesson progresses, the students should gain a deeper understanding of the material and should be able to complete the guided practice activities and independent practice problems at the end of the lesson.

Multimedia/ Inquiry Lesson: Graphing Inequalities
This is an interactive lesson focused on graphing inequalities and solving for the unknown variable using addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. The students will get a chance to use the SMARTBoard to show viable solutions to a problem and to appropriately graph an inequality.
Presentation/Project: Traveling with Linear Equations
Prezi Presentation- During class, the students will work through problems in my Prezi presentation to help develop their understanding of writing an equation in slope-intercept form when given a word problem and graphing the line on a coordinate plan. After we complete the activity, the students will form groups of four and complete the project that is assigned at the end of the presentation. The students are responsible for creating at least four word problems that can be represented with an equation in slope-intercept form and graphing each line showing possible solutions.

Cooperative Learning: Unit Review
The students will work together with a partner to help review for the Unit Exam. There will be practice questions posted around the room, and the students must solve a problem and find the answer on another sheet of paper. The activity allows the students to work with another member of the class and to circulate the classroom while reviewing for their exam.
